Fleur Page looks to drum up sponsorship backing for her heavy metal passion

"Hello, my name is Fleur Page. I am a fifteen year old female drummer. (I sleep, eat and think drums!).

"I have just been accepted into BIMM, the music college in Brighton, a year early, to commence September 2012.

"I am so excited and my mum is so proud of my hard efforts and talent. I was very unhappy at school. My mother became so worried about me that she home educated me - and it has been fantastic.

"I have taught myself to play drums for four years and I have been attending Brighton Rock School so as to play in bands and get to know other young people. My mother became unwell during this last year and struggled to finance many things for me to progress with my drumming.

"Mum managed to buy me a Roland TD12KX Electronic Drum Kit so that I could better myself and keep up my one true passion, drummming. It also kept the neighbours happier! All of my mother's money has gone to help my talent and now I have been accepted into college next year, they require that I sit four GCSEs. This is very costly as we will have to use correspondence courses.

"I am very capable of achieving GCSEs; it is financial support which is tight at present. We found it sad that the Head Tutor told my mum "she blew me away" and that I am "fearless" on drums - and then we found out I had to have these GCSEs too. This blew my mother away!

"I played drums to a Chris Adler track, from the band Lamb of God! I love Joey Jordison's style also and can play some of his pieces. These have been two major influences to me - also Lars Ulrich, Dave Lombardo and Mike Portnoy. I wish to be as good a drummer as these talented musicians. They have inspired me.

"I have the talent and commitment to work hard and be the best I can be. I wish to help my generation to bring back true Heavy Metal into the UK. We have lost our roots and the USA and Scandinavia need some serious competition. I wish to be in a band who can not only rival their talents but better them - it's what the British used to do best!
