WHOOPEE SEEKS THEATRICAL SPONSORS WHO'D LIKE TO SPLASH OUT ON THEIR SWIMMING SPECTACULAR

A synchronised swimming spectacular! Whoopee boasts a position as one of the most celebrated producers of cabaret and burlesque theatre in Britain. For the first time it is producing and directing its own show - the title of which is Nymphaeum.

This show celebrates the aesthetics of public swimming pools and Whoopee would love to see it tour as many pools in London and the UK as possible. Whoopee believes that by bringing such a joyous spectacle to the largest possible audience it can help the nation fall in love with its pools once more.

On September the 23rd and 24th there will be two shows at the Porchester Baths in Westminster. This particular show will run over two nights and has been part-funded by the Arts Council of England and Moose Foundation. Whoopee's aim is to put on this fabulous show for one night at Tooting Lido and one night at London Fields Lido, opening before the Porchester Baths show in 2006, and then to tour the UK and Europe over 2007.

Nymphaeum is a glamorous, large-scale piece of theatre with a dance and synchronised swimming routine as its climax. From the moment that the audience enters, a theatrical narrative begins. Audiences are led around site-specific performances and installations. The audiences experience live tableaux spectacles, including bathing belles swimming and playfully frolicking with giant beach balls. This journey culminates in the synchronised swimming show. Thirty showgirls and twelve synchronised swimmers perform kaleidoscopic dance routines in and around the swimming pool, culminating in a Busby Berkeley-style 1930s Hollywood-inspired swimming routine. Guests are then led to a fabulous after show party.

The show has already received preview coverage in the Observer, in Esquire magazine, in The Times Style Magazine and on the BBC's The Culture Show, as well as being featured in a fashion story in the current issue of i-D magazine. Previous Whoopee spectaculars have been at venues such as the Hackney Empire, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the ICA, Cobden Club, The Great Eastern Hotel, Café de Paris, The Atlantic Bar and the C Venues Cabaret Club at the 2004 Edinburgh Festival. Every event sells out, and those that go always dress up to compete with the Whoopee acts in the glamour stakes.

"Magnificent", The Guardian. "The masters of cutting edge burlesque", Time Out. "Poetry in motion", The Independent on Sunday. "Pioneering, ICA.

The Whoopee production team is seeking additional private and corporate sponsorship to go towards paying the production management team and the participating performers and swimmers. More information on the production and on sponsorship possibilities is available on request.
