CIWEM's Environmental Photographer of the Year competition offers sponsors a whole world of opportunity
CIWEM's Environmental Photographer of the Year competition seeks to celebrate photographers who use their ability to raise awareness of environmental and social issues.
It encourages entries that are traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, ironic, creative, experimental, subversive, subtle, strong, resonant, challenging, political, original and beautiful. But most of all, the competition celebrates the power of photography to inspire people around the world to start taking care of our environment.
The competition is open to all professional and amateur, national and international photographers working with digital and traditional photography. 2008's categories are Changing Climates; A World of Difference; Quality of Life; and The Natural World. This will also be the first year of a special Under 21 category which has no thematic boundaries.
The entries will be judged by some of the most respected environmental photographers in the industry, including Gary Braasch, winner of the Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography, Anthony Epes and Ronnie Israel. The competition is open until July 31st, 2008. Winning and highly commended entries will be included in an exhibition starting in London, featured in CIWEM's international monthly magazine, WEM, and showcased on CIWEM's popular website.
All sponsors will be noted in all the organisation's publicity materials for both the competition and exhibition.
