FIELD HOCKEY CANADA
Field Hockey Canada (FHC) is a Canadian sport federation responsible, with its Provincial partners, for the development and growth of field hockey in Canada. Hockey - as it is called in most other countries - has the distinction of being the largest team sport played by both men and women in the world. 15,000 competitive and recreational players enjoy the game in Canada, either playing for one of the 400 clubs or for one of the 600 plus school teams right across the country. The sport continues to grow throughout Canada, as it is doing elsewhere in the world. FHC's primary role is in providing top coaching, training and competitive opportunities to prepare the men's and women's national teams to compete against the world's best field hockey nations. FHC is committed to getting Canadian teams into the top eight teams in the world. FHC is also committed to growing the sport by increasing the exposure of Canadians to world class field hockey in Canada. "The essential ingredient needed to support our national teams and event staging is new partnerships with corporations that will bring in additional resources, while creating value for the sponsors". CAS/002 RACE WITH JAKES
Jakeson is a young Canadian talent from Alberta who relocated to France to continue his career path towards Formula 1 - an exciting sport in which few Canadians have ever made a showing. "Jakeson trains with Serge Lestrilin, who trained Nico Rosberg, Stephan Richelmi, Sean Edwards and many more at the same age in karting. Jakeson was recently featured in the Riviera Reporter - 'The Fast Track to Formula One' - who described him thus: 'His dedication and focus put him well on track for a shot at motorsport's greatest distinction - a place behind the wheel of one of the most high performace cars ever made'. We are looking for all Canadian sponsors to show a strong representation of Canada as Jakeson is usually the only Canadian on the track. His helmet, suit and kart have room for Canadian support. Jakeson is competing internationally and has other news features coming up in Canada on him". Contact: Lorrianne Caouette. Address: 302-11615 Ellerslie Road, Edmonton, Alberta T6W0J3. CAS/004 WOMEN'S HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
The Women's Hockey Association (WHA) is a new professional league which boasts the best players in the world. The six team WHA is comprised of three Canadian teams - Club de Hockey des Saintes de Montréal Inc., TorontoFlash Women's Hockey Inc. and Amazones Women's Athletic Inc. of Ottawa. American clubs, in the process of being incorporated, are the New York Starlets, the Boston Pandas and Washington Americans. The women's game will differentiate itself with the introduction of a 4 on 4 Hockey Game. "This is an opportunity to rebrand women's hockey with a faster, wide open style better suited to our players. Other changes are also planned to make our games higher scoring than the NHL. With the threatened elimination of Women's Hockey at the Olympics, I am planning for the 4 on 4 Women's World Cup every four years. With the smaller roster size of our teams being fourteen players, European teams will be much more competitive. I can also relax nationality requirements. Quebec and Ontario would have their own teams. The United States would enter North East and North West teams. The best comparison for our league is the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). League-wide attendance has averaged over 8,000 fans per game over their fourteen-year history. Last year, two of our markets, New York and Washington DC, averaged 11,069 and 9,357 respectively. New York drew a playoff high of 16,682. Their current ABC, ESPN contract is worth $30 million over eight years. Updated details of current sponsorship opportunities are available on request".
