| FCNS/PL001 | ![]() SUTTON UNITED Sutton United is one of the best known names in semi-professional football, not least because of its famous win over Coventry City - the last time a top-flight club was eliminated from the FA Cup by a non-League side. The club reached the FA Cup First Round in two of the last three seasons and in 2011/12 will compete in the Blue Square Bet (Conference) South as the new Ryman League Champions. "So, why should your company sponsor Sutton United? Well, we believe in trying to do things the right way and could fit well with your own corporate aspirations. We are a limited company, fully owned by our supporters, and our Supporters' Trust is represented on the Board. We are an FA Charter Standard Community Club, the FA's highest accolade, and our Trust is very active in the local community. The Trust not only holds shares in the club, they have built and continue to grow a string of excellent relationships within the borough. For example, every year they distribute Christmas presents to children in hospital, with a major attraction being our giraffe mascot, Jenny, who is also in great demand for scout fairs and school fêtes. A very successful series of "fun days" operates in partnership with the local Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhoods team, whereby children and their parents from schools across the borough get free entry and are encouraged to create a party atmosphere in the stadium. The children get goodie bags! - and can take part in a range of activities. We also have links with the Royal Marsden Hospital and Radio Marsden is our nominated charity for this season. One of the Trust's biggest achievements has been as part of the Friends Of Collingwood Recreation Ground, also comprising our neighbours, the police and local authority. There are plans, approved by all parties, to develop one side of our stadium to provide community facilities and put sports pitches back into the recreation ground. But our community focus extends well beyond local boundaries. For five years we have mentored Sutton United Gambia FC, a village club from one of Africa's poorest countries, who changed their name in our honour and maintain a long-distance relationship by text and e-mail. They visited us last December and we arranged business meetings and media opportunities to support them. We have a variety of sponsorship opportunities available from £500 to £30,000 (please see details below)". Contact: Dave Farebrother, Company Secretary.
