Series of sponsored supps. planned, as IPC Media photography name Nikon as title partner for image school

The School of Photographic Imaging (SPI) - established in 2000 by Amateur Photographer and What Digital Camera magazines - is joining forces with Nikon UK to expand its portfolio of distance learning courses.

The SPI boasts a position as the UK's most highly respected provider of leisure photography courses and offers home study courses designed to transform keen enthusiasts into accomplished amateur photographers.

Students of the Amateur Photographer Diploma in Photography learn how to become better all-round photographers and to take pictures of a high technical and artistic standard, whilst those on the Introduction to Digital Imaging for Photographers course are taught how to capture and process their digital images to a high standard.

The link-up involves a series of Nikon-sponsored supplements with What Digital Camera, Nikon branding on all house ads supporting the courses, and the creation of Nikon-branded course manuals.

Damien Demolder, chair of the SPI and Amateur Photographer's award-winning editor, is upbeat about the link-up: "We're absolutely delighted that Nikon UK has agreed to become a partner for the SPI. Together we will be able to reach even more students and guide more enthusiasts through some of the difficult steps on the way to mastering this immense subject. Nikon UK already has an excellent reputation for training its customers and we hope that the Amateur Photographer and What Digital Camera SPI will provide a valuable and significant addition to Nikon's programme."
