Prince's charity saddles up with Magic 105.4 to raise sponsorship funds for young unemployed

Youth charity The Prince's Trust is challenging 3,000 cyclists to get on their bikes for a right royal ride, in the largest cycling event in the history of the Trust.

The Palace to Palace bike ride - from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle - aims to raise thousands to get unemployed young people into work.

Prince's Trust ambassador Dame Kelly Holmes joined an army of cyclists riding a total of 100,000 miles last year. The Palace to Palace bike ride has raised more than £300,000 in just three years.

Supported by Magic 105.4, Palace to Palace 2009 promises to be bigger and better than ever. Participants will embark on a stunning route along the River Thames and through three royal parks, before being pampered with luxurious treats in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Neil Fox, More Music Breakfast Show presenter on Magic 105.4 said: "The Magic 105.4 Palace to Palace cycle ride with The Prince's Trust is a great way to raise money for this fantastic charity. The Prince's Trust does incredible work to support young people, enabling them to change their lives and make a positive start in life.

"I am looking forward to getting our two million Magic 105.4 listeners involved in supporting the event. I hope as many people as possible will join me in my early

morning training over the summer as I cycle into the Magic 105.4 studios!"

"The highlight for me was being able to cycle up the Mall at Buckingham Palace without any traffic," said one cyclist from last year's event. "I felt like a royal! And then ending the ride cycling up towards Windsor Castle was very special too".

The event will take place on Sunday, 27th September. Participants can sign up now at www.princes-trust.org.uk/palace.

Cyclists will need to pay a non-refundable £30 registration fee and aim to raise at least £45 sponsorship money - equivalent to £1 a mile.

The Prince's Trust has helped more than 575,000 young people since 1976 and supports a hundred more each working day. The youth charity needs to raise around £1 million every week to continue its vital work.
