Stoke City in new stadium naming rights deal with bet365

Premier League football club Stoke City have agreed a stadium naming rights deal with leading online gambling firm bet365.

An announcement on the club's website indicates that it has entered into an initial six-year naming rights agreement, with the Potters playing at the bet365 Stadium, previously known as the Britannia Stadium, from the commencement of the 2016/17 season.

bet365 have also negotiated an extension of their current shirt sponsorship deal for another three years. The original shirt sponsorship deal was concluded in May 2012.

The name of Britannia on Stoke City's shirts, in place until that time, was a familiar one for fifteen years, making it the longest existing partnership in the Premier League.

This morning's announcement also detailed plans for the stadium to be redeveloped. 1,800 new seats will be installed between the DPD and Marston's Pedigree stands, increasing the ground's capacity to over 30,000 by the start of the 2017/18 Premier League season.

The 2016/17 season will be the club's ninth in the Premier League.
