Travis Perkins Trailblazers make cricket debut in Northampton

Travis Perkins PLC has announced its sponsorship of the first ever Northampton based T20:ProAm cricket event, an opportunity for amateur players to take part alongside professional players and legends from yesteryear.

The Travis Perkins Trailblazers will play in the event at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club (NCCC) on August 20th in a fast and furious T20 match, with music, cheerleaders and a party atmosphere alongside none other than England cricketing legend Darren 'Goughy' Gough, who is coaching the team to hopeful glory and ECB Young Coach of the Year in 2015, Matt Earl.

Not only that but the team's pros are NCCC's Steven Crook and former England bowling legend Simon Jones. And the Trailblazers have also announced their wildcard - England's Rugby World Cup winning ace, Paul Grayson.

Other pros and legends playing include NCCC's captain Alex Wakely, Monty Panesar and Devon Malcolm.

The fun starts at 11:00 am, with two semi-finals across the day and a final played under floodlights - not something amateur players ever get to experience (let alone being bowled at by a current or past cricketing legend). Fans are urged to come along, support the Travis Perkins Trailblazers and #BePartOfIt.

Ricky Ricketts, Director of T20 Pro:Am, said: "The concept of T20 Pro:Am started last year when Northants won the T20 Blast final. We wanted to bring this fantastic experience to talented club cricketers and give them the opportunity to shine on a county ground whilst testing themselves and learning from professional players and legends - that’s what T20 Pro:Am is all about.

"We're delighted that this concept has been backed by a big company like Travis Perkins who are all about community, nurturing talent and shining a spotlight on excellence. And - who knows - one of the players may get picked up by a professional club, which would be the icing on the cake".
