BANKSIDE FROST FAIR
Bankside Frost Fair is London's largest, free winter event, to take place along the River Thames outside Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre on 14th-16th December. Having previously won a Visit London award the Frost Fair is now in its fifth year and attracts over 140,000 visitors. The concept of the event is historical, 200 years ago the river in the Bankside area would freeze over and a Frost Fair would take place on it. The Frost Fair turns the area into a winter wonderland where you can find London's biggest winter market, husky dog sledding, ice sculptures, street theatre, music, workshops and a bar serving mulled wine. The events starts with a spectacular lantern parade and on the Saturday there is a boat procession. Media coverage has included BBC London, London Tonight, Magic Radio, Smooth FM, The Guardian, The Times, The Observer, Daily Mirror, Time Out, Metro, Evening Standard, London Lite, Woman's Own, Junior, First and Prima. Other marketing includes advertising, promotional material and a website. Various levels of sponsorship and benefits are available with varying exposure throughout the event. ISLE OF WIGHT WALKING FESTIVAL
A fantastic opportunity has just arisen for a partner/sponsor to be involved with the Isle of Wight Walking Festival, which is now in its twelfth year and is the largest in the UK. The festival's Title sponsor for five years has now gone through business transformation, and as their strategy has changed they will no longer be supporting events, which includes the Isle of Wight Walking Festival - leaving open this exciting opportunity. The festival has won the BBC Countryfile Magazine Readers Award for the best Walking Festival, and is currently shortlisted for the CIPR - Best Event Award and also the 2009 Tourism ExSELLence Award for the Best Event. This event would be the perfect opportunity for a sponsor/partner as it fits in nicely with the idea of reducing carbon footprints and also with healthy lifestyles, playing a role in helping people lead healthier lives by offering healthier product choices and encouraging consumers to lead active lives. The festival is looking for Title, Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors and also for product and clothing sponsors or contra deals. 2008 was the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Walking Festival, and in excess of 24,500 walkers took part. Also to add to the celebrations, a Celebratory Walking Weekend was organised - four days in October. This was so successful that the organisers decided to make it a permanent fixture in the events calendar. It attracted over 2,000 walkers to the festival, which is great for the Island's tourism as it extends the holiday season. The festival has been featured on BBC Countryfile in 2009 and on numerous other TV programmes, with many radio interviews both locally and all over the country. "We have become quite infamous for our Speed Dating Walks, and to date have had three weddings, and possibly a fourth one on the horizon! We have also introduced into the programme an evening at the theatre which has proved really popular, and to date we have had Ben Fogle, Alan Hinkes and Janet Street-Porter, and next year we have Brian Blessed (which will be a complete sell out). We have increased the programme of walks from 39 to over three hundred, and it has developed into a Walking Festival which offers walks for all ages and abilities, and fits well into the healthy initiative. We look forward to hearing from you soon". Contact: Elaine Cesar, Events Officer. Address: Isle of Wight Council, 5th Floor, County Hall, Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 1UD. Tel.: 07970 009909. TOM STODDART'S PERSPECTIVES EXHIBITION 2012
Perspectives is an exhibition featuring the work of award-winning photographer Tom Stoddart. For £75,000.00 it will put its sponsor's identity at the heart of London for the seven-week duration of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, at a prime site, adjacent to a designated broadcast media platform. The exhibition's 100 signature black and white images will form a major retrospective of his finest work during a career spanning forty years. Perspectives chronicles Tom's hardhitting coverage of international news, conflicts and humanitarian crises, as well as subjects closer to home such as politics, people and the rich social diversity of British life. One of the world's most respected photojournalists, Tom continues to produce campaigning photographic projects on serious world issues. In July 1991 he travelled to Sarajevo to document the civil war that was engulfing Yugoslavia. This work was published worldwide. Returning a year later for The Sunday Times Magazine, Tom was seriously injured in heavy fighting around the Bosnian parliament buildings. After recovering, he produced a powerful feature on the aftermath of the Mississippi floods, followed by an award-wining photo-essay on the harsh regime for the training of Chinese Olympic Child Gymnasts. In 1993 he returned to Sarajevo to report on the hardship of life in the city during a freezing winter under siege. In 1997 Tony Blair gave Tom exclusive access for three months to document his election campaign. He was subsequently given exclusive access to Gordon Brown and David Cameron. Tom's acclaimed in-depth coverage of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa continues to be widely published and referenced in the international media. Now established as one of the world's most respected photojournalists, Tom continues to produce campaigning photographic projects on serious world issues. More recently he has been travelling around his own country, capturing intimate moments and portraits that illustrate the diversity and character of Britain and its people. Perspectives will be staged alongside City Hall - framed by the iconic Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast and 'Gherkin' building. The area will be the London hub of 2012 activity outside the Olympic Park. Energy is gathering there already among those aware of what is planned. Tom's last event there - iWitness, opened by Joanna Lumley for the DEC - attracted more than 300,000 visitors. This will be far exceeded during the Games. £75,000.00 will secure exclusive sponsorship of a high quality photographic exhibition supported by video; creative design and project management; expertise of a top design, manufacture and installation team; and staff on site daily to greet and inform visitors and security. Partial sponsorship/partnership is an option. The presence of large screens 200 metres from Perspectives, transmitting live coverage of the sports events, will also attract huge crowds. One of the thirty-five key Ambassador Pods will also be located on the site and adjacent to City Hall and will be used for entertaining VIP/celebrity guests. "We would like the exhibition to be a collaborative project with an imaginative partner who shares our vision, although part/shared funding is a possibility. PR opportunities have been scoped".     OTR/001     FAMILY TRAVEL WEBSITE
Launched in 2001, the Family Travel website (www.family-travel.co.uk) boasts a position as Britain's best-known and most respected resource for parents planning a family holiday. It is run by three travel journalists/guidebook authors - Kate Calvert, Corinne Simcock and Charlotte Hindle - who regularly travel with their own children. The website is now at a stage where it needs additional funds to take it to the next level and they are therefore seeking a sponsor who would benefit from association with the site and from long-term exposure to a key market: active women with both families and significant disposable incomes. Other reasons why partnering the Family Travel website makes commercial sense include  •  family holidays are one of the fastest-growing sectors of the leisure economy. Subscribers/visitors take between two and four holidays a year, so repeat business can be expected. Key strengths of the website include  •  219,000 visitors per year  •   Subscribers/visitors are ABC1 females, responsible for most family budgeting, buying, money and holiday-related decisions  •  No. 1 in the UK Google ranking for family travel  •  100% unbiased and independent travel information as the site does not take advertising and its updaters do not accept free facilities from tour operators  •  Comprehensive travel information catering for children of all ages, from babies to sulky teenagers  •  Owned and run by a strong team of media-friendly women with a good mix of business, writing and broadcasting skills. "We would love to talk to you in more detail about becoming our sponsorship partner". Contact: Kate Calvert, Co-editor. Address: 1 Hargrave Road, London N19 5SH. Tel.: (020) 7272 1286.
