NATIONAL ICE CENTRE

The National Ice Centre boasts a position as the UK's premier ice sports venue, with two Olympic-sized ice rinks under its roof. It is the busiest ice rink in the UK, with more public skaters and championship skaters than any other rink in the country. Situated in the centre of Nottingham, a legacy to the city's legends Torvill and Dean, the NIC is the heart of British ice sports, home to the GB Short Track Speed Skating Squad who will shortly be competing in the Winter Olympics, the Nottingham Panthers professional ice hockey team, and the training ground of an élite skating academy plus nearly 300 junior hockey players. Whether you're interested in sponsoring local or national skating events, international competitions, world championships or even family entertainment skating shows, the NIC has an opportunity to match your needs. Maybe you'd like to get involved in sponsoring the centre's ice sports programmes, from junior ice hockey to synchronised skating, ice dance to speed skating - or sponsor one of its highly-acclaimed Playing For Success flagship programmes involving local schools. You may wish to become a partner for one of the hugely popular themed public skating sessions, which attract thousands of skaters every week, or perhaps attract their attention with your name in the ice or in lights around one of the two rinks. You might even want to sponsor one of the NIC's skaters, and help them become the next Torvill or Dean, and achieve the success that they deserve in a sport that sees dedicated youngsters skating from 5.00 am in the morning - something that requires physical and financial commitment in equal measures. Alternatively you may have a more original way to target the half a million ice sports fans that visit the venue during the year. Contact: Geoff Huckstep, Chief Executive Officer. Address: National Ice Centre, Bolero Square, Nottingham NG1 1LA. Tel.: 0115 853 3020. Fax: 0115 853 3067. E-mail: geoff.huckstep@national-ice-centre.com.

THE PAINTBALL ASSOCIATION
Paintball is one of the largest growing mass participation sports in the UK. The aims and philosophy of the Paintball Association are very much to improve the standards and professionalism of the sport of competitive paintball by introducing new procedures by which the league is run and establishing a body of independent referees for the first time in paintball history. The Paintball Association National League invites paintball teams to play under their town name and compete against other towns in divisions to accumulate points and win prize money. The association has already secured support from within the paintball industry and are in the process of attracting further support from external companies who are looking to either enter the market place or raise awareness of their brand within the sector. The Paintball Association League is the only national league in the UK and is already attracting a great deal of media attention. In August 2003, the Paintball Association Cup secured backing from companies such as William Hill and the News of the World, alongside other regional and national press and various radio stations and was even featured on the BBC’s They Think It’s All Over. Sponsors would be provided with both the perfect medium for gaining brand awareness within the sector and the opportunity to introduce their products to a captive audience. The Paintball Association League will be covered by PBUK magazine, which is the main paintball magazine in the UK and has a wide circulation to both tournament and recreational players, along with being distributed to every UK Paintball Sports Federation trade member and paintball retail outlet in the UK. PBUK magazine will cover every event of the Paintball Association League in depth and will offer sponsors of the event unprecedented opportunities for promotion within the paintball sector. The Paintball Association is also looking to help the sport attract more media attention by combining the resources of every player involved. Team Managers will be targeting regional businesses to gain sponsorship as well as local media to gain promotion for the team, at the same time as the Paintball Association itself is contacting national sponsors and media. The association has already secured support from within the paintball industry and is in the process of attracting further support from external companies who are looking to either enter the market place or raise awareness of their brand within the sector. This year it is planned to run sessions for boys and girls from the age of 10 to 18. From these sessions teams will be put together to compete in the relevant junior league, whether that be locally, regionally or nationally, allowing the youngsters achieve their ambitions. In addition the women's programme will not only add several teams to the local leagues but also add Bristol's first women's national league side in over a decade. This programme creates an overall pyramid structure from young to old, in an area where sport has struggled to get established due to the costs of venue hire, etc. For this programme to be successful the club needs to raise approximately £8,000 in the form of advertising and/or sponsorship. This is a spectacular night, the culmination of the foremost amateur youth boxing competition which has in the past produced famous names such as Naseem Hamed and Audley Harrison. It will be an excellent opportunity for the sponsor to entertain staff and customers at a table hosted by a celebrity boxer whilst supporting a national charity that touches the lives of young people, say the organisation. The sponsor would have their name and logo on all communications, on the boxer’s kit if required (all boxers are over 18) and on the charity’s annual report which is widely distributed throughout the year. SCU/0001 ENGLISH CURLING ASSOCIATION
Opportunities are available to be involved with the Olympic sport of curling in England. The English Curling Association is the national governing body for the sport of curling in England and is a member of the European Curling Association and World Curling Federation. Representative teams are sent to European and World championships each year. Advertising, development initiative sponsorships (Juniors, Disabled, "a sport for life", etc.), competition sponsorships (schools, club, national and international), curling centre naming and sponsorships and curling team sponsorships and endorsements (schools, disabled, club, national and international) are all available. Team sponsorships can cost as little as £1,000 per season. National championships (Mens, Womens, Mixed, Disabled, Senior Mens and Womens, Junior Mens and Womens) start from £2,000. These have attracted local television and media interest at the ECA's first curling centre in Tunbridge Wells. The association would be very interested to talk about curling centre sponsorships, which could start at just £200,000 for a fifteen year naming lease and competition and presenting sponsorships, which would cover the cost of televising an event. SCY/0004 CHRIS LUCAS TRUST - THE GREAT NORTH BIKE RIDE
The Great North Bike Ride is an annual event in aid of the Chris Lucas Trust. Christopher suffered three long years - the Evening Chronicle covered his story during and after his illness and named him Bravest Boy in Britain and Local Hero. The trust is currently fundraising for a Scientific Medical Researcher, based with the NHS to research a very aggressive cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma and to help improve the quality of life of children and young adults suffering from this horrific type of sarcoma. The event started in summer 2000 with only six cyclists; in 2003, there were 600; in 2004, 700 cyclists took part and raised £30,000. Support for Chris Lucas Trust events can offer a number of benefits, say the organisers, including helping spread the sponsoring company's message to its target market, offering a direct and cost effective method of achieving the organisation's objectives and giving the company an edge in this market place. Through events sponsorship, sponsors can increase both their profile and brand awareness and can network through face-to-face contact with potential new clients at the events, say the trust, whose message is "Please make a difference. Inform your friends, workmates, get a team together!". This year's ride will take place on Sunday, 28th August 2005. Participants will cycle from Seahouses at approximately 9am to arrive at the Tynemouth Priory. The ride is 50 miles of beautiful Northumberland scenic coastline and the entry fee is £10. Exposure of the event will be achieved via the Chris Lucas Trust website and various publications, advertisements, mail shots, banners and display stands. Registered charity number: 1085775. SG/0004 NATIONAL NINES OF EUROPE GOLF SERIES (BRADERSON ASSOCIATES)
The National Nines of Europe Golf Series is a series of three competitions for 9-hole golf clubs throughout the UK, Republic of Ireland, France and Holland with Grand Finals held in Jersey, CI each year. Now in its sixth year, the event has grown to become the premier event for all 9-hole golf clubs. Although this is a niche market, the opportunities to develop are enormous and such has been the success of its move into Europe that the organisation is now in talks to expand into Austria, Italy, Norway and Iceland. Current supporters are Jersey Tourism and Jersey Department of Sport, Education & Culture, who have supported the event from its outset in 1999 and will continue to do so. However, the organisers tell us that they are now planning significant expansion, with super opportunities available for one major title sponsor for all competitions or three sponsors to each take title for the three individual events in the series - Golf Classic (3 man team, Stableford), Ladies Team Matchplay and Seniors Betterball. Each event culminates in a Grand Final played in Jersey each September. Throughout the year high profile is given at all regional qualifiers in the UK and this, suggests the organisation, is a golden chance for small companies to gain wide exposure at low cost, eg to take title sponsorship for the Ladies Team Matchplay would cost only £4,000 pa.
