Singular memorial exhibition of the works of Patric Old offers multiple opportunities for exposure

Opportunity: Patric Old, M.Des (RCA), 1952-2008, Memorial Exhibition

Title: SINGULARITY [or what the F*** has Barbie got to do with post humanism?] ©

     Setting: RCA | Entrance Gallery | Kensington Gore | London | October 22nd-26th, 2009.

At the time of his death, Patric Old was an AHRC funded DPhil candidate at the Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, in collaboration with the Future of Humanity Institute, University of Oxford, Advisor, Prof Martin Kemp. The title of his project was "Visualising The New Meaning of Being Human".

Patric's contribution to research on Human Enhancement challenged the generally accepted interpretation of "Singularity", with his own discovery of "Oneness" expressed in sometimes base, explicit, physical visual works informed by his privileged insight as a fine artist, having himself been on the inside of the fashion and beauty publishing and fashion doll industries.

She'Baa™, the iconic, dark but beautiful character invented by Patric Old - whose Eastern fairytale metaphorically embodies commercial possibility that advances in life science are enabling - will be introduced to the London public for the first time. Patric, British by birth, was the contemporary hybrid of Hans Bellmer and Egon Schiele, leaving behind, in addition to his contribution to the evolvement and personal interpretation of Barbie, a significant collection of intimate figurative drawings, paintings, photography and digital works.

Anders Sandberg, Futurist and postdoctoral research fellow at the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, University of Oxford, has confirmed he will contribute an essay on the subject of Beauty in the post human context to the exhibition.

In return for support, a private tour would be arranged and, in addition, the exhibition would provide visibility in a cultural central London location, exposure to prestigious Royal College of Art alumni, an exterior banner, opportunities for exposure in print and press coverage.
