homelessdirect is a project which helps individuals, groups and businesses support homelessness projects in their own communities.
With funding from the Community Fund, Homeless Link launched homelessdirect in September 2001 in recognition that many of these organisations neither have the profile nor the resources to fundraise effectively. Its participating charities are in desperate need of support so that they can continue to provide essential services to vulnerable people. Support they offer ranges from wash facilities and clean clothes to training, counselling, advice, accommodation and somewhere to meet friends and share problems.
More sponsorship and other funding would enable them to build on the essential services they currently provide and to introduce initiatives which will bring them closer to combatting homelessness for good.
