CITY COLLEGE NORWICH - EXTREME SPORTS THERAPY UNIT
The Extreme Sports Therapy Unit provides students with a way of developing their practical sports massage skills in a real working environment and it doesn't get any more real than an all-night event in bitter cold, pouring rain. As an experiential learning opportunity it is second to none, and the students benefit from being able to work as part of a team whilst improving their skill and knowledge base, thus developing their confidence and communication skills. The unit usually contains a mix of students, some of whom are qualified and working to gain further experience, whilst still at the College studying the Foundation Degree in Sport Health & Exercise, though the majority are students studying the L3 Diploma in the Prevention and Management of Sports Injuries. "We are geared up to service medium to large events and like to focus on Extreme Sports - hence our involvement with Chain Reaction Cycles and Thetford Mountain Bike Racing (Thetford MTB). We can operate up to twelve treatment tables at one time; and if required we can operate in multiple locations at the same event. The Unit is completely self-sufficient; we have a field kitchen and camping equipment and the only thing only thing we need is access to water and toilets (though a hot shower is always appreciated). We have developed considerably over the last five years and we are still looking to expand further. Whilst we have had some support from the College we are essentially self-funding - therefore any money made at events through donations is invested back into the business. With this in mind we are actively seeking sponsorship to help fund travel expenses, purchase new equipment and further improve the student learning experience. In return for sponsorship we can offer exposure at events in the UK and Europe and on our website. Rest assured that your business will be well represented as we are a very professional outfit that is serious about what we do. As we have huge exposure at events there are numerous branding opportunities on marquees, banners, flags, student shirts and our 7.5 tonne truck". LIFESTYLES FESTIVAL
Lifestyles Festival is a free popular extreme sports and culture event held annually in Hunstanton, Norfolk, (a Mecca for kitesurfing). With visitor numbers exceeding 10,000 each year, it hosts national championships in kitesurfing and windsurfing, as well as demonstrations and have-a-go-sessions in parkour, in-line skating, BMX, street dance and emerging street sports such as 'tricking'. The Lifestyles ethos is to promote access to street/water sports and to embrace their culture (with a VW show, live music performances and street art/performance sessions) at one of the most popular seaside destinations in the East of England. "In previous years funding has come from our local council's sports funding programmes as well as from contributions from local and national sponsors. This year, due to a reduction in funding, we aim to deliver amazing opportunities in return for commercial sponsorship in order to continue Lifestyles 'success story'! The festival is now in its eighth year and its audience is loyal and growing - and we gain increasing interest from the media each year. There are several different sponsorship packages available, starting at just £300.00 for web banners, £2,500 for Main Stage sponsorship and £10,000 for Headline Event sponsor, which are each detailed in the pack. We hope to hear from you soon and that you'll be as excited by Lifestyles and its success in 2013 as we are". Contact: Liz Pendleton. E-mail:
