AD/PL001 CAMBRIDGE GREEK PLAY
In October 2010, Aeschylus' Agamemnon will be staged as the forty-first Greek Play in a nearly unbroken series of triennial performances stretching back to 1882. This rare event brings together a professional director and composer with a student cast to present an Attic play in the original Greek (with surtitles). Recent plays have been Sophocles' Oedipus the King in 2004 (a Corin Redgrave's "pick of the year" in The Guardian) and Euripides' Medea in 2007, both directed by Annie Castledine. Agamemnon will be directed by Helen Eastman, with a score specially composed by Alex Silverman. The play will be performed eight times at the Cambridge Arts Theatre; recent plays have attracted capacity or near-capacity crowds at all shows, comprising both school pupils and the regional (and national) theatre-going public. "The budget for the play is £55,000, of which we are committed to raising at least £35,000 through fundraising and sponsorship. We would be very interested to discuss any sponsorship opportunities, including various forms of advertising and complimentary tickets". Contact: Dr Christopher Whitton, Secretary (Producer), Cambridge Greek Play. Address: Emmanuel College, Cambridge CB2 3AP. E-mail: clw36@cam.ac.uk

CHURCHILL - THE MUSICAL
CHURCHILL - The Musical is a brand new stage show written by Derek Charles Ash and Trevor Holman, which portrays both the private and public life of Sir Winston Churchill, from his loving marriage to Clemmie, through to his retirement from all forms of public life. Sixteen brand new songs (demo CD available), each of which has been carefully crafted to create the appropriate musical feel, style and atmosphere, help portray not only the very loving relationship between Winston and Clemmie, but also show the great humour and razor sharp wit for which Winston was world renowned. The show presents an entertaining insight into both the public and private life of the man voted by the British public 'The Greatest Briton to have ever lived'. CHURCHILL - The Musical is scheduled to have its opening World Premiere Gala Night on Saturday, 2nd October, 2010. The writers and producers, both of whom live and work in the Algarve, are still in discussion with several UK theatres, but they decided that as the show was written and created in the Algarve it would be only right and proper to have the opening world premiere in the Algarve. CHURCHILL - The Musical will be a co-production with the Camera (council) of Lagoa and the location will be the excellent 300 seat modern theatre in the town of Lagoa, with a special 'Red Carpet Gala Night' for the world premiere, followed by a week long run including two matinees, before the show moves to other theatres and locations. The show is being directed by Ray Jeffery, whose career in the theatre encompasses over four decades, during which time he has directed over a thousand musicals and two hundred plays, including the 'off London' world premieres of Fiddler on the Roof, La Cage Aux Folles, Billy and Les Miserables. Work has already started on the various aspects required to put on the show, such as basic set design and build, props, costumes, wigs, lighting scripts, music scores, arrangements and choreography, and Ray is now busy casting in the UK. The show will have an onstage cast of thirty-two, with twenty professional actors, singers and dancers flying to the Algarve from the UK and an additional twelve cast members drawn from Algarve auditions. A very experienced and highly professional backstage team of stage director, choreographer, wardrobe mistress, wig master and lighting designer is being assembled by Ray from various UK theatres and together with a stage crew from the Algarve a team of approximately fifty people will be working on the show. Tickets will be on sale from April onwards and a very exciting future is predicted for the show. The show is costing approximately £100,000 to stage and interested sponsors and investors should contact the writers and producers by initially emailing: trevor.holman@arc.eu.com. For more detailed information on the show, click the link (below) to the website. Contact: Trevor Holman. Address: Quinta do Retiro, Sitio Pés do Cerro 314Z, Moncarapacho, Algarve, Portugal. CITY LIGHTS THEATRE COMPANY
City Lights Theatre Company presented Dogging, a new comedy by Tony Higgins at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern on December 3rd, 4th and 5th, 2009. Matt Ian Kelly, director of The Gaydar Diaries and However Do You Want Me, presents a show like you've never seen before. "We are looking for a partner that sees this play's commercial potential to work with us as we look towards a longer London run and potentially a festival. AD/PL004 CLOUDCUCKOOLAND/OP PRODUCTION
Cloudcuckooland is a music theatre comedy for kids and their families. It's riotous, funny and a touch irreverent, but carries a serious message about not messing up the planet. It's performed by six actor musicians who play twenty-two instruments between them; the musicianship is stunning and a great inspiration for kids. It was created in the Spring of 2008 with an initial one-off grant from the Onassis Programme and toured the UK, then played for a month at the Edinburgh Festival. It got excellent reviews, much feature coverage and was nominated for the Total Theatre Awards. The Observer picked it in its top seven pieces of theatre at the Edinburgh Festival from thousand of shows. Most importantly, for the company, it has fabulous feedback from kids, parents and teachers. The story follows an attempt by the birds to take revenge on humans for trashing their habitats. It features a gallery of beautiful and hilarious bird characters (the trombone-playing flamingo on stilts, and the trumpeting dodo with his zimmer frame) and culminates in the chickens trying to roast Gordon Brown for Sunday lunch unless he agrees to their climate change demands. The whole project aims to be ecologically sound and practice the message it preaches, but with with wit and humility. The company was helped in the creation of the show by a number of organisations, from the RSPB to the Carbon Trust. Many programmers from the UK and worldwide saw the show in Edinburgh and want to book it. One commented: 'I just wanted to say how impressed I was with Cloudcuckooland in Edinburgh. I thought it was unique, exciting and streets ahead of all the other children's shows at the Fringe'. The company would love to take the show to more kids around the UK and the world (together with a programme of workshops and participation events). However, they need a sponsor to be able to do that. They envisage this will be a company whose priorities are children getting involved in music and the arts and/or spreading a message of ecological responsibility in a fun way. The company can     Put the sponsors name and logo on all print, adverts, press releases, mailings, posters, etc.    distribute flyers/product samples with their mailings and at events    have display material in foyers    include adverts in their programme    host the sponsor's guests, with complementary tickets and entertainment opportunities    and be extremely grateful! The project is managed by Helen Eastman at OP Production Ltd.. Helen has a strong track record in producing and managing large scale arts events and UK and international touring. "We have raised a proportion of funds needed from donations (donors include Dame Judy Dench and Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney) but need to secure £10,000 of sponsorship. We hope to find a great working relationship with a new sponsor". Further information, a selection of photos and reviews and examples of previous print and programmes are available on request. CREATURES COMEDY
Creatures is a cutting edge new comedy show, written by and featuring character comedian Susan Harrison. Susan has been a professional actress since 2001. She trained at the nationally accredited drama school, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, and was a Semi Finalist in the 2009 Funny Women Awards. Creatures will be directed and produced by Colin Leggo, who has promoted comedy for several years at the popular south London comedy club Comedy at the Kirk, which regularly plays host to some of the big names in comedy, such as Russell Kane (Big Brother's Big Mouth), Steven K Amos (BBC 1's Live at the Apollo), Greg Davies (from C4's The Inbetweeners), Reginald D Hunter (Have I Got News For You) and Issy Suttie (from C4's Peep Show), to name a few. Susan and Colin made their Edinburgh debut last year at the Underbelly with their first comedy show, Five Characters in Search of Susan, which was described as "dark comedy at its best" ***** (ThreeWeeks). It was a great success and received very favourable reviews: "Susan Harrison's character sketch show is impeccably performed and reveals her rich talent as a comedy actress. Her name is one to look out for" (One4Review); "Harrison introduces us to her alter egos with remarkable ease, brilliant comic timing and a sense of authenticity" (The Stage). In 2010 the pair will take Creatures to Edinburgh to perform at The Space @ Jury's Inn, which is in an ideal central position, being seconds from the Royal Mile and just 500 yards from Waverley Station. It will cost approximately £7,000 to take Creatures to the Fringe, which includes venue hire, accommodation, PR, publicity, the Fringe brochure fee and living expenses. As the Edinburgh Fringe is the world's largest arts festival, involvement in an exciting new comedy show such as Creatures can be an attractive proposition for sponsors. "From our success at last year's Edinburgh Fringe, we know that Creatures can attract a young, lively audience and we would love your help to realise this potential. Interested sponsors and investors should contact the producer by initially emailing Colin Leggo". Contact: Colin Leggo, Producer/Director. Address: 118 Drakefield Road, Tooting Bec, London SW17 8RR. MTA - THE MUSICAL THEATRE ACADEMY
MTA is a brand new ethical drama college which opened at the Drill Hall, London in September 2009. The Academy is currently looking for individuals or companies to create a bursary/scholarship scheme for potential students. As it is a new college, successful applicants will not be eligible to apply for any sort of government funding (including CDL). However, the college doesn't wish to attract only students who can afford to pay for their places - they want to be able to offer a place to any student that has the talent and drive to succeed. MTA is running the UK's first accelerated training programme, which means that its students save a year of living and tuition costs whilst not sacrificing the training. The college works four terms per year, removing the traditionally long summer break, which many students use as a financial top up. MTA's longer term business plan has provision for a hardship fund; however this won't be available for a few years. The full cost of the course is £24,000 (a saving of £10,000 on other established colleges) - too much money for most people. Yet MTA believes that everyone should have a chance to follow their dream. Sponsorship support is now being sought. Contact: Annemarie Lewis Thomas. Address: 9b Osborne Road, Palmers Green, London N13 5PT. Tel.: 0208 882 8181. E-mail: annemarie@themta.co.uk

POOCHYBOY PRODUCTIONS
As an emerging playwright usually producing his own plays, 2008 was a great year for Stephen M. Hunt! Actability Inclusive Theatre commissioned a play from Stephen for their company of learning disabled and non-learning disabled actors. Consequently, Actability previewed Problem Day (his play with song and dance - but not a full-blown musical) at The Hume Theatre, Bishops Stortford, on the 8th November, 2008. Problem Day will be Actability's community piece for next year and their touring piece the following year. Hildegard Neil, Royal Shakespeare Company actor and international star of film, TV and theatre, headed the cast in another of Stephen's plays and has also agreed to tour with it next year. Ben Onwukwe, another Royal Shakespeare Company actor who made his name as Recall in the hit LWT drama serial London's Burning, co-starred with Hildegard Neil in Impossible Steps. "Rosalind Blessed (daughter of Brian Blessed) has just joined the cast of the play we're touring next year with Hildegard Neil", says Stephen. Brian Blessed has said of this same play: "... terrific, original, great writing, a major work ...". Recent reviews of this same work include: "... so satisfying, this fiercely intelligent play ...", Hearsay Magazine; "... the best new play I've seen in ages ...", British Theatre; "... deliciously disorientating ...", Extra! Extra!. Stephen's earlier work was assessed as: "... neatly conceived ... inventive in character and theme ...", Royal Court; "... original, surprising and engaging at every turn ... theatre is the only place for it ...", Soho Theatre. "The first venue to welcome in our touring play for next year is the Rhodes Arts Complex, Bishops Stortford. From May last year to September this year, I have personally financed productions of my work in the following London fringe venues: SourFeast Theatre, The Brockley Jack Theatre and The Rosemary Branch Theatre. RED SHIFT THEATRE COMPANY
"This unsettling, spiky, deliciously entertaining little show is a triumphant reminder of why the company has survived so long", Lyn Gardner, The Guardian. Who they are: Red Shift boasts a position as one of the country’s most experienced touring theatre companies, touring regularly since 1982 to urban and rural venues throughout the UK and abroad. Now, approaching their 21st birthday, Red Shift continues to evolve artistically and remains at the forefront of exciting touring theatre, whilst maintaining its distinctive style and commitment to bringing stimulating and accessible story-based theatre to the broadest audience possible. The company has charitable status and is one of the few national touring companies in receipt of revenue-funding from The Arts Council of England. Red Shift seeks sponsorship for whole tours, for London/Edinburgh runs and for the various education programmes targeted at young people and other sectors of the communities to which they tour. A popular area of support is sponsorship in kind: for example, Next and Red or Dead have clothed past Red Shift productions. Their audience: recent research suggests that at least 30% of the company's audience is made up of schools and colleges. 75% of their core audience are aged between 25-54 years and 95% are in social class ABC1. RUMPUS THEATRE COMPANY
Rumpus is a lively, established theatre company with a strong reputation for stylish productions of popular and exciting new plays - they are “masters of the high audience appeal production”, Derbyshire Times. With a proven track record in small- and middle-scale touring, Rumpus is seeking business sponsorship in the form of a bridging loan to set up its first high profile Number 1 tour. The Signalman - a new play based on Charles Dickens' classic, well-known ghost story - has had two very successful regional productions (by Rumpus in Chesterfield in 1997 and by Bill Kenwright at the Theatre Royal, Windsor, in 1998) and was described by the press as “ideal entertainment for a winter’s night”, Observer, and, according to the Windsor Express, “deserves to join the ranks of stage shows that really send a shiver up the spine”. It therefore appears ripe for large-scale touring, and has the serious potential for a London West End transfer. For a very small investment, a potential sponsor would benefit from high profile national advertising in all promotional material and media exposure associated with the production, and the accompanying kudos of supporting a high-quality, popular appeal arts project for the duration of the production. WEST END KIDS
West End Kids is a unique centre of excellence based in London for young performers aged 10-18 who show exceptional talent and dedication in musical theatre and the performing arts. In turn, the company provides the "Kids" with challenging performance experiences via workshop style coaching. Since its creation in 2001, West End Kids has provided dedicated students with all the tools they need to progress into outstanding performers, with focus on singing, choreography, attitude, mental-toughness, work ethic and expectation. West End Kids is very proud of the fact that a very high proportion of its pupils have successfully applied to the performing arts school/college of their choice including the Brits School, Sylvia Young and Mountview. Furthermore when its students move into work professionally, there is no shock to the system as they have been working to the same standards for years. This makes the transition smooth for them and ensures they are a pleasure for directors to work with. Recently, a West End Kid, Holly-Anne Hull, won the Disney Channel's prestigious My Camp Rock competition. This was a great honour for both West End Kids and its Managing Director Martin Williams, who has provided personal vocal tuition to Holly-Anne for many years. Moreover, Holly-Anne displayed perfectly the standards that all West End Kids aspire to and indeed achieve. West End Kids is very active in using many forms of the media both for communication with its pupils and promotion of the company. Its website www.westendkids.co.uk receives 120,000 hits per year. West End Kids is also very active in Facebook and YouTube where it publicises its various activities and performances and as a consequence has a loyal following of thousands of fans throughout the world. The cost of running West End Kids is, not surprisingly, very expensive. In particular, London rehearsal venues are not cheap, therefore the company faces constant financial constraints. On the other hand the company is committed to providing professional advanced coaching to young performers with talent, regardless of financial circumstance. Faced with this persistent financial conundrum, West End Kids is looking for sponsorship of its rehearsal overheads so that it can continue to offer its current first class coaching programme to young musical theatre talent rather than restrict it merely to those who can afford it. West End Kids is confident that sponsors of the company will benefit from its growing national recognition via the ever-increasing demand for public performances, open workshops and media promotion. Indeed, this is a wonderful opportunity for a sponsor to gain excellent publicity, especially within the youth sector as West End Kids would be looking to promote the sponsor's name at all its events throughout the year. AD/0004 BELOW STAIRS MUSICAL (for cancer research)
Below Stairs, premièred in May 2002 in Chesham to excellent reviews, has now enjoyed four productions. Emulating the Peter Pan/Great Ormond Street link, all stagings now generate money for Cancer Research UK, as a thankyou from the composer who kept sane by creating the show through successive major cancer surgery on the colon, liver and lung. The aim now is to mount a more ambitious production at a large theatre, with upfront sponsorship allowing all box office receipts to go to the charity. The resulting high-profile exposure, backed by professional-quality DVD and CD, will then stimulate the UK amdram circuit to put the show on, thus generating a stream of cash in the future for the charity. Below Stairs is a tuneful, feel-good musical set in 1914 at the outbreak of WW1, with a leading female role that surpasses Eliza Dolittle. The website www.BelowStairsShow.com gives full details of the show's history, plot, rave reviews, cast demands and so on. Scores and libs are available for assessment hire. Videos of the first and fourth productions show how the musical has been polished, sound extracts being available at www.tunes.belowstairsshow.com. Among the show's fans are BBC newsreader Patrick Lunt, who augmented the chorus sound in the first production, and actor/writer Simon Williams (Major Bellamy in TV's Upstairs, Downstairs), who describes the show as fabulous. Sponsors of the proposed large-scale charity production will see their money doubled for cancer research, delight audiences with a feel-good show with memorable tunes and create a stimulus for other amateur operatic societies to stage the work to benefit charity. AD/0030 LUDERE PRODUCTIONS: GIRL GANGS
Girl Gangs delves fearlessly beneath the surface of media-fuelled preconceptions. It reveals the complexites behind the rising death toll related to gang culture in the UK. Based on true life, the play follows two young inner city girls. One is born into gang life through an unfortunate fate. The second undergoes a very disturbing initiation hoping for safety and status. Research for the play is being drawn from interviews and workshops with young people, gang members, ex-gang members, victims and MPs. This is supported by media sources such as documentaries, articles and surveys. The production is being written by an award winning writer, giving artists, ex-offenders and offenders a chance to collaborate in the creative process and give space to the often unheard voices of our younger generations. Ludere Productions seeks to produce theatre at the highest standard that consistently questions, entertains and challenges. "Girl Gangs will tour the UK later this year and we are currently looking for investors. We have been liaising with various MPs as this topic has had much debate in the run up to elections. AD/0039 PENNY PLAIN THEATRE COMPANY
Penny Plain Theatre Company is a Yorkshire Dales based touring company which performs high energy comedy from a travelling replica of a Victorian fairground theatre booth. They adapt Yorkshire tales and history and present it in the guise of "Malvolio Hardcastle's Mighty Excelsior Theatre", a troupe of disreputable down-and-out players trying to put on a play. The company has just finished a tour of "Black-hearted Evil" about the ghosts of Bolton Priory, and is starting rehearsals for a winter melange of songs, dances and mummery. Next year's summer production is "The Entire History of the North": chaos and mayhem as ever, but with a serious underlying aim of retelling some of Yorkshire's heritage. The company's unique shows have proved astonishingly successful, and they are in a position where they need to expand to cope with all the bookings. "We attract large crowds, but as this is street theatre, we are always seeking sponsorship to supplement our income. In return, we will mention you in the performance, display your sign and acknowledge you in our publicity material and the well-produced leaflets we distribute at performances. We can tailor a sponsorship package completely to your wishes. You are welcome to ask for one of our short promotional DVDs or to talk to us - we're friendly - and fun!"
