EXPEDITION EQUUS
Becky Sampson and her pony Bertie's Quest are about to embark on the journey of a lifetime to raise money for charity. Their adventure, Expedition Equus, is a four year horse ride from London to Tokyo, spanning two continents, fifteen countries and more than 15,000 kilometres. Becky believes she will be the first woman in history to undertake this incredible journey, and has already been heralded one of ten 'Great Modern Travellers'. Both horse and rider are going to visit villages built and run by SOS Children, the world's largest orphan charity, in support of whom Becky is undertaking the journey. She will take letters and pictures from schoolchildren in the UK, who are linking with SOS Children's villages en route. The adventure has been recognised by the expedition leader and travel writer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who says of the journey: "The true spirit of adventure lives on; Expedition Equus has set a great challenge and I wish them both luck and success". There has been great media interest, both nationally and internationally, and Becky has been requested interviews with media agencies throughout the ride. Filming for a documentary is already underway and a book and exhibition of photographs are planned upon completion. The expedition can be followed at www.expeditionequus.com, which currently receives over 1,000 hits a month. Contact: Becky Sampson. Tel.: 07825 738 769. E-mail: info@expeditionequus.com

SCD/0001 CHARIOTS OF FIRE DRIVING CENTRE
The Chariots of Fire Driving Centre is a carriage driving training centre based in a rural community in the Borders of Scotland. It is the only centre in the country bringing on children as young as three years into the sport, enabling them to compete at all levels. The centre works with disadvantaged youngsters, many of whom are either physically disabled, psychologically traumatised or have learning difficulties. They are given a safe environment with full one-to-one support where they can feel totally nurtured and able to bring out the best they have to give, often surprising themselves. The centre also works with adults who are either fresh to the sport or may have come to regain confidence after an accident or loss of nerve. The organisation would like to work in partnership with a sponsor to promote and expand these activities. In exchange, they can offer local and national media exposure; logos and advertising on their fleet of well-travelled competition and display team vehicles; facilities for company incentive schemes; and team building activities, etc. They need financial support for vehicles, ponies, equipment and products. Any sponsor would be working in association with a professional organisation that is well known for working within the community, creating opportunities for children and adults who might not otherwise be in a position to benefit from such resources. SPC/0001 DARTMOOR PONY CLUB POLOCROSSE TEAM
Dartmoor Pony Club Polocrosse Team is part of Dartmoor Pony Club, which is a registered charity. Polocrosse is a very fast and exciting game - a cross between polo and lacrosse. The team's squad consists of ten riders, ranging in ages from 11 to 19, with a variety of horses and ponies which travel all over the country. The senior team has won the area competition for Devon and Cornwall for the last two years and then came second in the Championships held at Nottingham. The team's juniors also won the Junior Championships. The squad is now in its third year and has come to the stage where they need more equipment and a higher calibre of teaching. For all of this they are looking for a sponsor. The Pony Club is a worldwide organisation and the Dartmoor polocrosse squad could offer a sponsor a high level of coverage. This would come from the sponsor's advertisement on horse trailers and vehicles as well as on jackets, together with media coverage. The sponsor could also have a link on the team's website which is accessed by many people. At the moment the team is finding it very hard to get the money to fund themselves. "We hope that a sponsor will come along very soon as the new season is underway and we are hoping to take part in a lot more tournaments this year". Contact: Mrs Sally Hamilton. Address: The Coach House, Whungreen, Cornwood, Ivybridge, Devon PL21 9HS. Tel.: 01752 837059. E-mail: sallyhamilton3@yahoo.co.uk
