LANRE OLUBAMIWO 'Big Larry', as he is often referred to by UK media moguls, is a British prospect who refreshed the national heavyweight scene in 2009 by adding speed, explosive power and charisma. Larry's power has been compared with that of British heavyweight great Frank Bruno, while his fighting style was associated with that of American legend Mike Tyson. Unlike most heavyweight boxers today, Larry's image is very aesthetic, appealing to a wider sporting audience. This feature has already eased Larry's crossover from professional sprinting into boxing. Having stopped all but one of his opponents, thus earning himself a place in the Top Ten SKY TV Knock Outs of 2009, Larry 'the War Machine' Olubamiwo is now lined up for a Southern Area Title. This year started with another great knock-out victory which earned the admiration of awarded coach Freddie Roach. The thirty-one year old who reached the national finals as an amateur with the backing of the Repton Boxing Club wishes to find an organisation who will support his ambitions of reaching a world boxing title and who will join efforts with coach Freddie Roach in this project. Contact: Lanre Olubamiwo. Address: 105 Latitude Court, Albert Basin Way 3, Newham E16 2QP. Tel.: 07956288682. E-mail: lanreolubamiwo@hotmail.com. link to website

CLUBS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
Clubs for Young People (formerly the Boys Clubs) is a national charity that provides sports, arts and training to 400,000 young people throughout the UK. They are seeking a sponsor for their Boxing Gala Dinner. This is a spectacular night, the culmination of the foremost amateur youth boxing competition which has in the past produced famous names such as Naseem Hamed and Audley Harrison. It will be an excellent opportunity for the sponsor to entertain staff and customers at a table hosted by a celebrity boxer whilst supporting a national charity that touches the lives of young people, say the organisation. The sponsor would have their name and logo on all communications, on the boxer’s kit if required (all boxers are over 18) and on the charity’s annual report which is widely distributed throughout the year. A PR agency is in place to promote the event and ensure positive coverage for both the charity and the sponsor, they tell us. Clubs for Young People suggest that this opportunity would be ideal for any business wishing to reach either active young people or the 350 senior executives and opinion formers from top UK companies who attend the night. A variety of opportunities are available, including title sponsorship, bout sponsorship and advertising. Contact: Sarah Woolcock, Deputy Director, Fundraising. Address: 371 Kennington Lane, London SE11 5QY. E-mail: sjw@nacyp.org.uk. link to website

The boxers in question are Marlon Mellish and George Kean. Marlon is currently ranked number 1 in his weight class by the ABA and won the Spirit of London Award in 2009. George has won senior and junior national ABA titles and draws huge crowds at shows. Contact: Brian Deegan, Times ABC Treasurer.
