CALEDONIAN CHALLENGE: SCOTTISH COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
The Caledonian Challenge is Scotland's premier outdoor team ultra-challenge event. The challenge is for teams of four people to complete fifty-four miles within 24 hours, whilst raising funds for the Scottish Community Foundation to help strengthen local communities. The epic journey will take participants through some of the UK's most remote, rugged and stunningly beautiful landscapes. In just one day, participants will experience majestic views of Ben Nevis - the UK's highest mountain, the splendour of Glen Coe, the wilds of Rannoch Moor and the scenic Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. The Caledonian Challenge was founded in 1996. Since then, more than 12,000 people have successfully taken part and raised over £8 million to support the work of the Scottish Community Foundation. The organisers will work closely with sponsors to leverage their sponsorship of the Caledonian Challenge. They can also offer a range of benefits for the sponsor's association with the event, including    1,000,000-3,000,000 OTS for the sponsor alone - for title sponsors, the event generated 16,000,000 OTS alone in 2008    sponsorship worth up to £60,000 in AVE from PR campaign    access to a customer base worth up to £450,000 in potential sales    brand exposure to over 1,000,000 website visitors per year    brand exposure to over 200 high ranking companies who are entering participants into the Caledonian Challenge    brand exposure to over 25,000 sponsors who donate funds to the participants in the Caledonian Challenge    branded acknowledgement in The Scotsman supplement going out to 55,000 people    demonstration of the sponsoring company's corporate social responsibility by supporting local community life    opportunities to product sample with over 2,000 people on the Caledonian Challenge    promotion to over 2,000 people with a demonstrable interest in outdoor sports and activities. This list is by no means exhaustive and the organisers can tailor a sponsorship package to suit the sponsor's needs and requirements, resulting in benefits that will postitively impact on the sponsoring company's brand image and equity. "This is your chance to support Scotland's premier outdoor team ultra-challenge in aid of charity". Contact: Stuart Moffat, Events Marketing Executive. SCH/PL002 DUNCAN SMALL - CLIPPER YACHT CHALLENGE
Duncan Small has been selected to participate in the 2011-2012 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. In order to take part in this unique challenge, he is looking for a sponsor to cover his race costs. The Clipper Challenge involves ten identical stripped out 68 foot racing yachts, crewed by amateur yachtsmen and women under the guidance of a professional skipper. The race covers approximately 39,000 miles around the world, over fifteeen legs, and visits thirteen countries. It is a truly global event that generates massive interest wherever the yachts visit. To take part, Duncan is looking for a sponsor (or sponsors) to cover his race costs. "So what can I offer in return? Participation in this event requires mental and physical toughness and, above all, a desire to succeed. On my return, I will be able to pass on my experiences to others and to demonstrate that anyone can achieve what they want, whether that be in play or in the work place. In addition, in the build up to the race, during the race and after the race, I can provide regular updates on progress that can feed into any corporate marketing programme. Finally, wherever possible and subject to any restrictions placed on me by the race organisers, I would be more than happy to host any corporate guests, whether they be from the sponsoring company or their clients - whenever and in which ever ports of call the fleet makes. This event is unique and is global. It brings together individuals from all over the world and provides the opportunity to make new contacts on an international scale. I am more than happy to discuss further in detail. For further details on the event, please log into the Clipper website at www.clipperroundtheworld.com/". Contact: Duncan Small. GEOFF HOLT ATLANTIC CHALLENGE
The opportunity exists to sponsor record breaking disabled yachtsman Geoff Holt to become the first disabled yachtsman to sail the Atlantic Ocean single-handed. Geoff Holt has already acquired the specialist yacht, the only 60 foot wheelchair-accessible yacht in the world. Sponsorship funds are needed just to cover administrative costs. In return the yacht has two sixty foot white hulls and several thousand square metres of sail, just crying out for a sponsor's logo. Already a proven commodity, in 2007 Geoff Holt became the first disabled yachtsman to sail single handed around Great Britain. Paralysed from the chest down, he sailed his 15 foot trimaran dinghy 1,500 miles to fifty-one destinations in a Challenge that took 109 days to complete. On his return, he wrote a best-selling autobiography, Walking on Water. Now he is attempting the "big one" and with a guaranteed 30 minute documentary and a launch planned with HRH Princess Anne and Dame Ellen MacArthur, DBE, this project offers the title sponsor a unique and highly "PR friendly" marketing opportunity for a modest cost. Contact: Geoff Holt. Address: Ty Melyn, St Anne's Lane, Shedfield SO32 2HR. Tel.: 01329 835151. E-mail: geoff@geoffholt.com.

SCH/PL005 MAJOR PHIL PACKER
Major Phil Packer is a paraplegic who was injured in Iraq last year and was told that he would not walk again. His injuries have improved and this year he has been given a Golden Ticket to walk the Flora London Marathon over two weeks (two miles each day). He will be the first paraplegic to do so. The MOD and KTB PR have a media plan with media partners including the BBC, Telegraph and Hello magazine, who will cover the exclusives for his story. He has just rowed the English Channel and, following the marathon, will climb El Capitan. His intention is to try out as many sports as possible to provide information to fellow injured servicemen and women and the wider disabled network. He has a website (www.philpacker.com) which is currently being redesigned and continuously improved. His intent is to raise £1 million for Help for Heroes, so all sponsorship would go directly to the charity and he would be delighted to wear a sponsor's logo on his clothing for his challenges, including the Flora London Marathon. The media covering his marathon attempt will be national and he hopes to gain public support through his quest. "I don't want any money from the sponsorship; this is an opportunity for a sponsor to get high publicity and donate their sponsorship to a fantastic charity". Contact: Major Phil Packer. Address: 4a Vincent House, Vincent Square, London SW1P 2NB. Tel.: 07841 045210. E-mail: phil@helpforheroes.org.uk.

WIRRAL COUNCIL FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE
Pitting their wits against 10,000 miles of desert and five mountain ranges in a car with only a 1.2 litre engine, two Merseyside locals are joining the world-famous Mongol Rally to raise over £50,000 for charity. David Wiles, 48, and James Mather, 57, are rising to the challenge and setting off on an adventure of a lifetime with only their camaraderie and self-taught mechanical skills to get them across a third of the earth's surface to the finish in Mongolia. Both Wirral businessmen, the pair decided to give up their day jobs for six weeks to support Wirral Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) which provides support and resources to local charities, over three hundred in the last twelve months. Personally affected by the work of Wirral CVS, David and James will be racing against hundreds of contestants from the UK, Italy and France on a trip which the organisers call the 'Un-route' as there are no restrictions, guidance or back-up support teams. Their destination is the city of Ulaan Bataar, the capital of Mongolia, a country nestled between Russia and China, and there will be a final launch in Prague at the end of July, with other teams, before the six-week drive into the wild begins. David explains: "We are really throwing caution to the wind in this mad cap adventure - and we hope people in Merseyside will rise to the challenge with us by digging deep for local charities that do amazing work in our communities". It will test every limit of the friends, David, a local business owner and mentor at John Moores University, Liverpool, and James, a partner in Berkson Wallace, a Birkenhead solicitors. James continues: "This is going to be the toughest challenge I've done - if we make it to the other side in our mighty steed! We'll need every bit of humour and perseverance we can muster as well as support from local businesses and personal sponsors to help us reach our target of £50,000 for local charities. I'm just hoping the car will hold enough spare parts!" Their car will be a second-hand 1.2L Renault, specially donated by Renault Wirral garage, who saw the opportunity to support the two racers in aid of their local charities. Wirral CVS supports any and every charity in Wirral with development advice, funding and volunteering opportunities. It recently prevented four charities from closing down, including a community centre, arts and culture club and an organisation that helps local people find employment. This will be the first of many annual fundraising events entitled The Wirral Challenge to raise money for Wirral CVS. For more information on the Mongol Rally 2009 or to sponsor Team Wirral please visit www.thewirralchallenge.co.uk. Contact: Jane Leffman, Fundraiser.
