ATLANTIC DASH
In December 2011, two firefighters from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service will embark on the incredible Atlantic Dash challenge. Firefighters from Cardiff Fire Stations, John Haskell and Jamie Windsor, will attempt to row over 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean to raise money for several charities. The expedition will start on December 4th with the team launching their boat from the island of La Gomera in the Canary Islands. John and Jamie are expected to cross the Atlantic Ocean in approximately three months, reaching Barbados in February 2012. This extraordinary challenge will raise a lot of money for some very worthwhile charities. However, the team desperately needs your support to have any chance of completing this gruelling task, so they are currently seeking financial sponsors. "It will give you a taste of the fantastic enthusiasm and passion of the team members, John and Jamie, as well as the incredible and highly attractive 'Atlantic Dash' sponsorship opportunities available. The team have been featured on national news and have a promotional pack and promotional video on YouTube - please see
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9orHlL5Q0bM. ANTARCTIC CHALLENGE: HAZEL RICHARDS
In the footsteps of Shackleton ... skiing the last ninety-seven nautical miles to the South Pole - The Nimrod Expedition. "As part of a small team of ten, I am looking for sponsorship to support a ski trek challenge to the Geographic South Pole, starting where Sir Ernest Shackleton abandoned his plans to do the same in 1902 (see my website for a brief outline of the Shackleton story). It was on his now-famous Nimrod Expedition that Shackleton, with his trusted colleagues, turned back ninety-seven nautical miles from the centre due to poor weather conditions and a lack of supplies. The Antarctic Challenge - the intention is to trek to the Geographic South Pole ... the highest, coldest, most windswept place on Earth, skiing over the ice plateau and weaving through sastrugi in extreme weather conditions. I will be pulling a 25kg pulk, containing all necessary supplies to cover the fourteen day expedition to the centre of the South Pole. The Sponsorship - I am looking for key sponsors to help support the cost of the challenge and in return I will help to raise sponsors' brand awareness, as well as create funds for good causes (click the download button below for personal news achievements)". EQUAL ADVENTURE
Adventure should be as natural and inclusive and as available as breathing clean air - but it's not. Individuals with a physical disability are often ignored within the adventure medium, mainly because specialist equipment is required to facilitate such involvement. Equal Adventure overcomes this barrier by designing and manufacturing a wide range of specialist outdoor adventure equipment which allows people of all ages with a physical disability to participate on an equal footing with able-bodied people. In 2012 Equal Adventure is organising a two week joint British/Hungarian river canoe expedition down the River Tisza in Hungary, with eight individuals (four from Britain and four from Hungary), all of whom have a physical disability. Equal Adventure will provide the specialist equipment required for this expedition and intend to leave it behind in Hungary for continued use by Hungarian practitioners, to support them in their inclusive approach to outdoor adventure. "I am walking the length of Israel, from Dan in the north on the Lebanon border down to Eilat in the south on the Jordanian border, in order to raise funds to finance this event. Despite being sixty-seven years young, I will be self-sufficient and it will take me around sixty days to complete. I will be doing a weekly blog during the journey and posting images on the Equal Adventure website (www.equaladventure.co.uk). We would be grateful if you would support us in this worthwhile venture by sponsoring me or making a donation". Contact: Frank Grant. Address: 143 Upperby Road, Carlisle, Cumbria CA2 4JP. Promoting a positive lifestyle - sailing in extreme conditions is incredibly physically and mentally challenging; association with a competitor in this event shows support for a healthy attitude towards getting the most out of life. MONGOL RALLY TEAM
In July 2012, a team of four are looking to complete the perilous Mongol Rally with the aim of raising over £3,000 in aid of Amnesty International. The rally will set off from Goodwood near Chichester and end up in the capital city of Mongolia, which is Ulaanbaatar. Amnesty International began as a small group of volunteers who started a mission to stop the imprisonment of men and women for their religious or political beliefs. That cause is as relevant today as it was in 1961. Today Amnesty International is seen as one of the largest and most trustworthy voluntary organisations in the world. They not only fight for the rights of prisoners of conscience, they seek to protect prisoners of violence and people in poverty. Amnesty International works to uphold the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights. "I would be privileged to raise money for this prestigious organisation as I believe it stands up for the very best of humanity as a shield against oppression, segregation and the abuse of humans. They only accept funding that does not compromise their aims or principles and I would be honoured to contribute to this cause. We are looking for a sponsor to help us finance the car. The rules state that it has to be under ten years old, with an engine no larger than 1,200cc. We are looking for a sponsor who will be able to help finance or part-finance the purchase of the car. We understand that this will be a large investment for anyone - so in return we will do all that we can to promote your firm and demonstrate how you are supporting a good cause through the following outlets    car logo stickers    logos on any clothing or equipment, where appropropriate    adding your company name to our planned social media fundraising campaign, Facebook, Twitter, Live Blog     mention in our planned appearances in the local press, ie radio, local newspapers and possibly South Today    we will be filming a day-by-day documentary of our trip, sending it back home while on the road for a regular YouTube channel managed 'back at base' while we are on the road - so we will be sure to push your brand name to ensure you get plenty of advertising space for your funding    where we plan to set up collection boxes in shops we have contacts in, on the label we can mention that the donation is for Amnesty International and the expedition is supported by your firm. So overall, in return for your helping the expedition out with transport, we will feature your sponsorship heavily in our pre-expedition media hype campaign that will focus mainly in the South East - and there is a chance that we might get some national coverage. Amnesty International is a globally-respected organisation and will always be a good group to be affiliated with since they are looking to uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights globally, no matter what". ODYSSEY XX1
On the 1st November 1998, at Punta Arenas in Chile, former British paratrooper Karl Bushby took the first steps on a 36,000 mile long path that will lead him home. Unassisted by any form of transport, Karl was attempting what the world told him could not be done. He began a journey that will be the longest ever continuous journey on foot, doubling any existing records. Karl believed it was possible to journey by foot from the southern most point of South America back to England and leave behind him an unbroken trail of footsteps. This incredible journey began unsupported and unfunded, simply operating on unshakeable will, faith and endurance. The story unfolds over four continents, frozen seas, deserts and mountain ranges, from the jungles to the Arctic, in an estimated fourteen year adventure like no other. Karl has completed over nine years of this marathon, covering 17,000 miles. In 2000, he crossed the guerrilla-held jungles and swamps of the Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama - a feat even the local people considered impossible for a westerner. In 2006, he created a record by crossing from Alaska to Russia by walking/swimming the semi-frozen Bering Straits. His path now lies through Asia, across Europe and back into the UK using the service tunnel of the Channel Tunnel. He will not return home until he has walked back to the UK: as such, this is a continues endeavour. Currently the Odyssey is not sponsored. For a number of years the endeavour has been without a financial sponsor or partner, resulting in difficult logistical challenges in far north east Russia, where the politics, extreme environment and remoteness have left the Odyssey in a tight spot. The Odyssey needs a partner to see this one-of-a-kind adventure push beyond the Arctic Circle, south into Asia and for the big push for home. Contact: Karl Bushby. SKYSCHOOL AND ADVENTURE EXPEDITIONS
Following the successful use of paramotors on a major scientific expedition by the Scientific Exploration Society in the Bolivian Amazonas during 2007, it is proposed to develop the concept of using paramotors and all terrain vehicles, working together on a series of scientific projects. A small team of experts have come together to plan the ventures and they consist of the following individuals: John Blashford Snell, Scientific Exploration Society; Alex Ledger, SkySchool Flight Centre; Alan Morton, Proactive TV. The first expedition is to Botswana and the aim is to research areas of scientific interest as well as support the local community. Proactive TV have agreed to film the expeditions with the aim of placing them on either Channel 4 or the Discovery Channel. The charity Just a Drop has also agreed to support the expedition. These expeditions are clearly advantageous for either a single main sponsor or a variety of different sponsors. SCL/001 THE ROCKALL SOLO ENDURANCE EXPEDITION
"The Rockall Solo Endurance Expedition is a once-in-a-generation expedition to be undertaken by me, Nick Hancock, in order to raise funds for Help for Heroes. Since the first recorded landing in 1811, only four people have spent more than one night on Rockall; of these only one has done it without shelter. The challenge is for me to land on Rockall and survive solo for sixty days, setting two new endurance records: the longest ever solo occupation of Rockall and the longest occupation of Rockall in history. The expedition planning has been completed and the current challenge is now that of sourcing funding for the provision of transport, equipment and insurance. In order to cut costs I am currently constructing my own shelter and am also attempting to source a suitable vessel to transport me to and collect me from Rockall. This expedition will offer significant sponsorship and partnership opportunities. These will allow you and your company to benefit from brand association, PR, marketing and advertising campaigns, and newspaper and media coverage. There is a promotional brochure available to download at http://www.rockallsolo.com/resources/Rockall+2011+Sponsorship+Brochure+A4+4pp+v3.pdf. To find out more about me, please visit www.nicholashancock.com, or the expedition blog http://rockall2011.blogspot.com/. A number of equipment providers have already agreed to supply key items, but there are still the issues of transport costs, food and communications equipment to be supplied and/or paid for.
