METAPHOR EVENTS An exciting and original extreme mountain bike event is coming to the Sussex countryside. Called The Ruckus, this four cross downhill event is being brought to the south east of England for the first time. Metaphor Events is currently looking for sponsors to make the event come to life and would like to invite potential sponsors to view their proposal. With the added possibility of worldwide television exposure, this is an event that is sure to attract a large audience. The Ruckus brand is a new concept in alternative sporting events that is beginning with this new version of downhill mountain biking. Organised by Metaphor Events, who have recently handled a Sport Relief mile in Brighton, and in partnership with specialist consultants, the events aim to bring popular alternative sports closer to a mass audience. There is already agreement in principle to feature the event on satellite extreme magazine shows that will be broadcast not just in the UK but around the world. Added to this is the aim to stream it live to the internet and onto people's mobile phones. To be located at the Golding Barn motor cross track in the heart of the South Downs, The Ruckus will provide an excellent opportunity for maximum exposure to a target audience. With no other downhill mountain bike events taking place in the south east of England, and with mountain biking being an established Olympic event, this is the perfect opportunity to help develop a partnership between event and brand. Mountain bikers represent a lucrative, untapped market - it's not uncommon for riders to spend £2,000 on bikes and equipment alone. Potential sponsors will be offered several different means of promoting their brands, including the opportunity to have full naming rights for the event, for example, "The XXXX Ruckus" the chance to have a Start and Finish kite that all riders will pass under and which will be seen by spectators and filming cameras prominent placements in websites, on entry forms and in any other literature relating to the event the chance to display any new products on a stand throughout the event placement on competitors' race numbers and officials' clothing a cost-effective opportunity to utilise a wide range of worldwide advertising media, including television, internet and mobile phones. "We believe that The Ruckus could be an excellent event to raise brand awareness, showcase products and allow an early connection to the 2012 Olympics in London. Click on www.theruckus.co.uk for an all action video of the event and location". Contact: Mark Hedger, Director. Address: 121 Connaught Avenue, Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex BN43 5WP. ADAM WILLMOTT
Adam Wilmott offers an opportunity to get involved in the fast-paced, action-packed sport of downhill mountain biking. Currently boasting a position as the number one ranked senior rider in the country, Adam is aspiring to turn Elite in the next few years. He understands that sponsorship is based on a two-way relationship. But by visiting trade shows and getting exposure in the press, Adam knows that he can increase corporate/brand awareness for his sponsors both on and off the track. Adam's value to sponsors would take a number of forms: increasing the sponsor's corporate/brand awareness; raising the sponsor's corporate/brand profile; creating strong product endorsement; generating customer loyalty; product and brand positioning; media exposure through newspapers/magazines/trade shows; clean and professional equipment with highly visible logos. A full, up-to-date resumé is available on request. All forms of support would be much appreciated to help Adam reach his goal. Address: Trevaughan Farmhouse, Aberedw, Builth Wells, LD2 3UP. SCOTTISH DEVELOPMENT SQUAD
The Junior Development Squad (JDS) is a squad set up for the promotion of downhill cycling for juniors in Scotland. Mountain biking is an increasingly popular pastime, and sponsorship opportunities are of growing interest to bike and fitness equipment manufacturers, suppliers of nutritional products, specialist holiday companies and financial organisations. Offering an exciting alternative to 'ordinary' leisure cycling, mountain biking opens up opportunities such as trail-riding, holidays and indeed competitive biking. Downhill mountain biking is growing in strength as a competitive sport, and is particularly strong in Scotland. The Scottish JDS are now seeking sponsorship and can offer a wide variety of benefits to suitable sponsors. The squad features top Scottish mountain bike riders, experienced in the business of advertising and promotion. Contact: John G. Ponting, Manager. Address: 50 Glasgow Road, Milngavie Glasgow G62 6HY.
