DURHAM AMATEUR ROWING CLUB




Durham Amateur Rowing Club boasts a position as one of the most successful rowing clubs in the UK, regularly achieving the most wins of any club in open events. The club is proud of having a broad range of members, from international medalists to leisure rowers - and catering for beginners of all ages: juniors, seniors, veterans and disabled. The club is recognised as a centre of excellence, pioneering Amateur Rowing Association schemes such as Project Oarsome and World Class Start. Durham ARC members compete in all major national competitions each year and the club is the largest in the north of England. Durham ARC are currently re-developing their clubhouse and boatstore facilities with the help of National Lottery funding for a project expected to cost in the region of £960,000. Other major funders include the Northern Rock Foundation, the Amateur Rowing Association and the Department of Education & Skills's Playing for Success scheme. Durham Amateur Rowing Club is to be the only amateur club within the highly acclaimed Playing for Success scheme (www.dfes.gov.uk/playingfor success) in which some 150 professional sports clubs participate, including Premiership football clubs. Club Sponsor
Sponsors can have their company name and logo on all racing kit, oars, signage, trailers and letterhead.




Boat Sponsorship
£3,000 to £8,000. Company name/logo on boat. Sponsors select the name for the life of the boat and attend a naming ceremony. Boat sponsors have the use of the boathouse/marquee for corporate functions (once at no cost, repeat hire at members' rates) and will receive press coverage.




Event Sponsorship
Durham ARC are responsible for holding three of the largest events in the rowing calendar, set against the backdrop of Durham Cathedral and Castle. These are: Durham City Regatta
Whole event and individual race sponsors are wanted for this two day event held annually in May.




Durham Small Boats Head
An event held during February over an 1,800 metre course, with crews rowing against the stream of the river. This is a one day event which has an entry level capped at 400.




Durham Veterans and Juniors Regatta
A one day sprint event held in September over a 500 metre course. The event attracts competitors from around the country and caters solely for veteran and junior rowers.




Durham Allcomers Regatta
A fun event with corporate overtones whereby crews created from beginners are made up from companies, friends and schools. Crews are coached for 4 outings, after which they race on the event day for a prize. This event is designed to promote rowing and teamwork and many adults take up rowing afterwards.




Transport
Durham ARC is situated in the north east of England and has to travel far to events. The club is seeking sponsorship/supply of two towing vehicles to cope with towing large trailers and assist in transporting junior members.

IMPERIAL COLLEGE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE BOAT CLUB

Imperial College Medical School Boat Club is a ten year old rowing club comprising respected old hospital clubs with a combined 400 years of history and with a keen membership base of over a hundred university students from different disciplines and backgrounds. The club is entirely student-run, from training recruits to top level administration and operates on contributions from its members and the kind support of sponsors and affiliates. "We row on the River Thames on the busy Tideway section, competing in numerous races ranging from United Hospital events, in which we are highly successful, to world-famous regattas like Marlow and Head races like the Tideway Head. We also have a firm plan to qualify for Henley Royal Regatta, the sport's premier event. Sponsorship logos on equipment and clothing offer a business exposure wherever our club trains or races, which over the past year has included Chiswick, Hammersmith, Putney, Kingston, Cambridge, Dorney Lake and Henley. With regards to equipment, we can currently offer up to 28,800 sq. cm of advertising space on our racing boats of which we currently own six eight man, two four man and one single man and 2,400 sq. cms. on our oars. Furthermore our 100+ members annually order new clothing, each item of which has space for a company logo and our rowers are routinely seen wearing items in and around our London University. Molesey Boat Club boasts a position as one of the most successful rowing clubs in the UK - and is proud of having a broad range of members, from international medallists in all age groups to beginners, juniors, veterans and the disabled. The club is an ARA-designated centre of excellence for heavyweight men. It competes in all major national competitions and several international events each year. SRO/002 RICHARD WALSH
Richard Walsh has been a rowing coach for thirty years. He has coached Scottish, British, Commonwealth Games and World Champion rowers. He was Rowing Team manager for the Scottish Commonwealth Games team. He is now coaching an individual rower who needs sponsorship to cover the costs of his boat, oars and transport. "This individual has the potential to go to World and Olympic level based on my assessments so far. The athlete is currently using borrowed equipment which is of the wrong size and age. If his equipment could be funded then it would be used by this individual and any other subsequent athletes I coach. Advertising could be offered by using the boat cover to carry logos, company names, etc. The new boat and oars will cost around £7,000". Contact: Richard Walsh.
