"My name is Caitlin. I have been lucky enough to be awarded a place on a prestigious Masters degree at Boston University, with a focus on International and Political reporting. The opportunity to combine my written skills, academic interest and passion for international development, and truly kick-start my future career as an International Development Journalist by being offered a place is something I never believed would actually happen. Whilst my academic pursuits, and running my charity Epiphany (www.epiphanycharity.org), have been invaluable to my development, they have been financially draining; my family is small, and only able to support me emotionally. I have sourced various options to support my living expenses, including part-time work and Assistantships at the University itself, but need to find a sponsor who would be willing to help with my tuition fees, which are a total of $43,000/£27,000. Anything you would be able to contribute, however small, to make this a reality would be life-changing. I would, in return, do any internship or work you feel I am able to within your organisation, and your endorsement would be made publicly known in local news and on every blog/video blog I make about my time in Boston (so far I have utilised my surname through the hashtag #bawnintheusa, which is also the name of my blog, found at bawnintheusa.moonfruit.com). I really would relish every opportunity given to me whilst over there, and documenting my travels would give me relevant journalism experience, so you would be able to watch your investment make a real difference. My course also has an optional sabbatical to Kenya with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which naturally I would love to apply for, and I travel regularly to India, so your impact would be felt outside the USA as well.
