ANDY DAVIES QUARTET
The Andy Davies Quartet is a London-based jazz band that performs the music of Welsh composer and trumpet player, Andy Davies. The quartet is made up of very talented young musicians from the British jazz scene and has performed worlwide in prestigious clubs, theatres and festivals around the world, including Tokyo Opera House, the Manchester Jazz Festival, Barcelona Jamboree Jazz Club and Moleto International Jazz Festival. The quartet has been recently awarded The Peter Whittingham Award to support the recording of their second CD, and received support from Jazz Services for their UK tours for two consecutive years. The quartet does not receive funding on a regular basis and therefore sponsorships and donations would be needed to support its promotional activities and perfomances abroad. The funding received would help to cover travel and accommodation expenses for the artists when on tour abroad, publicity costs including posters and press releases, and the recording of the next CD. Further information about making a donation or proposing a sponsorship is available on request. "We will be happy to discuss any funding opportunity with you". Contact: Lorenzo Bassignani, Admin. Address: 28 Calvert Road, London SE10 0DF. Tel.: 0044 (0) 7946 098005. Fax: 0044 (0) 208 181 4891. E-mail: donations@andydavies.com

CCCU BIG BAND
The Big Band of Canterbury Christ Church University is a twenty-five piece jazz orchestra performing the classic music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller and Buddy Rich, alongside more contemporary works by British composers such as Andy Shepperd, Andy Scott, Dave O'Higgins and Chris Smith. Members are drawn from both music and non-music students as well as the local community. It is planned to take the band on tour to Catalunya, Spain, in March 2011, travelling overnight by coach and performing five concerts in three days, before returning to (hopefully) perform in Glasgow as part of the National Concert Band Festival 2011. The projected cost is £14,000, which will be partly raised by events such as a sponsored twenty-four hour blow on November 12th and 13th, concert performances, busking and philanthropic donations (the university is a registered charity, number 1098136, which qualifies any donations for Gift Aid on tax returns). "However, you can help make a difference by providing sponsorship yourself. As we are travelling by coach, we can be a mobile advertisement, carrying your name from Canterbury, through France to the north east area of Spain, including Barcelona and back - over 4,000 kilometres! We can also display your logo on tour clothing; and there's a big space on our music stands, just waiting to be adorned with your name. Many of the band members go on to become teachers and, by involving them in every aspect of this tour, they will carry forward the knowledge and experience into their chosen profession, passing on their wisdom to your children. If you are able to offer support, please contact the Musical Director of the band, Mike Hamnett". Contact: Mike Hamnett, Musical Director. Address: 1 Ripley Way, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross EN7 5DU. AMJZ/003MIDLANDS YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA
The Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra is now widely acclaimed as one of the UK’s top big bands. Its reputation has been founded on a consistently high quality of performance over two decades. In addition, audiences find they are infected by the enjoyment which band members bring to performances, and the excitement which the band generates. These qualities have helped bring the band success in the BBC National Big Band Competition, initially during the 'eighties winning the Youth Section, but latterly being successful in the senior competition. In fact the band has been unbeaten in the BBC competition since the mid-'eighties, although, because of it success, it is now barred for two years from entering, following a win! MYJO has also been a winner in the Dutch National Big Band Competition, beating adult bands from The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. Sponsorship opportunities are now available. Contact: John Ruddick, Band Director. Address: Birmingham, England. Tel.: +44 01675 442050. E-mail: john.ruddick@btinternet.com.
