Cornish Surf Life Saving Club buoyed by Happy sponsorship

Members of St Agnes Surf Life Saving Club who recently saved the lives of two swimmers off Hayle Towans have been given a boost after securing £1,000 sponsorship from Cornish energy efficiency and renewable energy experts Happy Energy.

The funding for the St Agnes-based charity will be put towards purchasing essential lifesaving equipment used to help train local youngsters and young adults in lifesaving skills, as well as help improve facilities at the club.

In return, the club's boat - which is used for training and surf lifesaving competitions around the region - has been named Happy Energy and emblazoned with the company's logo and branding. Happy will also have a signage board positioned outside the club's HQ near the beach in St Agnes.

Happy Energy CEO Adrian Wright - whose company provides homes and businesses across Cornwall with a range of energy efficiency and renewable energy services including boiler servicing and replacements, LED Lighting, Solar PV and biomass stoves and boilers, said he was delighted that the sponsorship was supporting the work of the club in helping providing invaluable lifesaving training.

"You only have to look at the fact that club members were responsible for saving the lives of two swimmers recently to see just how fantastic what they do is. It's a great tie-up for us as a local company and we are looking forward to seeing how the sponsorship will help improve facilities and buy new equipment.

"We are also looking forward to updates on how the club gets on in the Happy Energy boat at their local and regional competitions this year", he added.

Steve Havers, St Agnes Surf Life Saving Club's chairman, welcomed the support from Happy Energy. "Like a lot of small charities it takes a lot of hard work and support to help run the club so the sponsorship from Happy Energy is absolutely fantastic and will really help what we can do for our members. The boat looks great with the new logo and Happy Energy colours across it and will certainly make a splash at the regional competitions", he said.
