Having been recognised as the fifth best state school for sport by the National School Sport Magazine, Dr Challoner's Grammar School has presented the first stage of a new sports sponsorship programme.

Thanks to the work of its newly-formed Parents Sports Strategy Committee, the school has reached three year sponsorship agreements across the following sports:

Football - sponsored by Savills

Rugby - sponsored by Luker Rowe

Hockey - sponsored by PCM (Personal Career Management)

Cricket - sponsored by Lennons

The school's PE Team are always keen to widen the range of activities across all sports to increase participation levels. And, says the school, thanks to the influence of the parents committee, it has already greatly improved communication with parents as well as introducing Mountain Biking and Fencing to the extra-curricular programme.

John Deadman, Director of Sport, said: "The extra funding will be used not just to supply team kits for all sports, but to supplement extra coaching which will improve the quality of our major team sports as well as the numbers of boys involved. Our aim is to give every boy that wishes to an opportunity to play competitive sport, ie represent at least one school team each year".

'Stage two' of the sponsorship programme will involve finding sponsors for our other successful team sports such as Basketball, Athletics & Cross Country, Swimming, Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash and Tennis.
