888poker terminates relationship with Luis Suarez

888poker has this morning issued a statement saying that it has terminated its relationship with Uruguayan football star Luis Suarez.

The move comes following the well-publicised incident at the World Cup in which he bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini and the subsequent decision by governing body Fifa to ban the player for four months from all football. The ban would have major consequences for his Premier League club Liverpool, as he would be unable to play for them until November.

The full 888poker statement reads as follows:

"888poker signed Luis Suarez following a fantastic season for which his achievements were widely recognized. Regrettably, following his actions during Uruguay's World Cup match against Italy on Tuesday, 888poker has decided to terminate its relationship with Luis Suarez with immediate effect".

The 888poker Team of Ambassadors, of whom Suarez was a member, includes Aussie cricket legend Shane Warne and Canadian MMA fighting legend Georges St-Pierre (GSP).

888poker is also the Official Poker Partner of Scottish football giant Celtic FC.
