London Lions pen £100K sponsorship deal

The capital's only professional basketball teams, the London Lions, has signed a £100,000 sponsorship deal in Stratford.

The team will be playing their home matches at the 7,500 seat Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and will be using the Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suites in Stratford City as their base.

Cycas Hospitality, which manages both the hotels, has signed the sponsorship deal with the team, which involves various promotional activities - and guests and staff could get the chance to meet the players.

Jane Kendrick, director of operations at Holiday Inn London, said: "We are enthusiastic supporters of the London Lions and we are also putting together packages to attract the followers of the game and their families to stay at our hotels. We share so many of the same principles of quality and community spirit with the London Lions that this seems a truly excellent partnership".

"London Lions has a unique ability to deliver powerful, positive lifestyle images to the UK, especially through our presence on Sky Sports and BBL TV,” said Vince Macaulay, chief executive and head coach of the London Lions.

"Basketball is a family game uniting clubs and supporters from around the world and it is the number two sport for both boys and girls in England".

The London Lions will play at least twenty-two basketball games at the Copper Box Arena after the team took up residence there this summer.
