Anglian in headline sponsorship of boxing's Annual Awards Dinner

Anglian Home Improvements took pride of place as the headline sponsors of this year’s British boxing awards.

The Anglian Group Boxing Board of Control Awards were presented to some of the biggest names in British boxing at a prestigious awards ceremony and dinner in Hammersmith, London on Friday, 27th September.

First held in 1984, the Board's Annual Awards Dinner is the major event in the professional boxing social calendar. The event honours boxers and others from within boxing for their achievements and contribution to the sport.

The highlight of the evening was the Boxer of the Year Award, which was presented to Carl Froch, the current World Super-Middleweight Champion, by Anglian's Business Unit Sales Manager, Mark Ottaway. Froch stopped Yusaf Mack at the end of last year and took a unanimous points decision over Mikkel Kessler in front 18,000 people at the O2 Arena in May to pick up the Boxer of the Year Award.

Ottaway commented: "Congratulations to the winners of this year's Anglian Group Boxing Board of Control Awards, all of whom are great ambassadors for British sport thanks to their unwavering professionalism and dedication. As a British brand, we are passionate about supporting British talent and celebrating the best of what the UK has to offer, so it is a real honour to be part of this prestigious event".

In addition to the 600 guests at the event, the sponsorship is estimated to have reached millions of viewers thanks to live and replayed screening of the awards on Sky Sports 1, as well as coverage on Sky Sports News.

General Secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control, Robert Smith, said: "The British Boxing Board of Control would like to thank Anglian Home Improvements for their valued support of the 2013 Annual Awards Dinner in aid of the British Boxing Board of Control's Charitable Trust. Money raised by this event goes towards carefully selected causes within the boxing community such as grants to ex-boxers in need. We hope that this is the beginning of a long standing relationship between the British Boxing Board of Control and Anglian Home Improvements".

Anglian has been a supporter of British sports and sportspeople at all levels for many years, from aspiring British athletes such as Louis Smith – who went on to win a silver Olympic medal at London 2012 – to the local youth football team in Norwich, where the company has its head office.

Established in 1966, Anglian Home Improvements is the UK's biggest double glazing window, door and conservatory specialist. With almost 50 years' experience, Anglian offers an extensive range of home improvement products, including double glazing windows and doors, Rooftrim, conservatories, orangeries, driveways, solar products and garage conversions.
